Sub:- Shame! - Ukraine prepared to wait up-to 2018 to restore its territorial integrity despite Budapest Memorandum
As per media reports Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko urges allies to boycott 2018 World Cup in Russia and said he would ask Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, to push for tougher sanctions against Russia because of what he described as repeated separatist violations of the ceasefire which she helped broker last month. He reportedly is also going to ask the chancellor for more non-lethal military aid for Ukraine’s forces, such as bullet-proof vests etc and said “We need more to be able to defend ourselves and protect our soldiers – we don’t want to attack anyone.”
What a Shame! - Naively assuming that the powers who are in possession of Crimea and Donbass will not further consolidate their position in coming over 3 years, Ukraine is prepared to wait up-to 2018 to restore its territorial integrity despite ‘1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurance’ which casts legal responsibility ( in addition to Russia) on USA and UK and even on France and China to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Due to Ukraine's accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons even World community / UN is under legal obligation to protect territorial integrity of Ukraine because as a result of Budapest Memorandum Ukraine gave up the world's third largest nuclear weapons stockpile between 1994 and 1996, of which Ukraine had physical possession. But Ukraine never put moral & legal pressure seriously on USA & its European Allies to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine even after Crimea was gulped by Russia in March, 2014 and Donbass (Donetsk and Luhansk region) is under Russia supported separatists.
I remember during first half of 2014 (when I was in USA) Americans were hotly and extensively discussing the events in Ukraine and some were asking why, despite Budapest Memorandum, USA was not intervening in Ukraine when Crimea was taken by Russia and at that time some Americans were saying “though USA on its own is not taking initiative but if Ukrainians start shedding some Ukrainian blood in Crimea for protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine, USA & its European Allies would be constrained to join the military of Ukraine for protecting Crimea”. What to say about the bravery (especially of military) and patriotism of the Ukrainians who allowed Russia to gulp Crimea without shedding a drop of Ukrainian blood . Obviously Ukrainians want everybody to shed their blood for Ukraine but not of Ukrainians. Also Ukraine did not press West for the retrieve of Crimea even after election of President Poroshenko though during electioneering Poroshenko and West promised through media that after President election Crimea will be retrieved. This non-retrieval of Crimea (by Ukraine and USA & its European Allies) resulted in similar demands of separation by referendum (on the pattern of Crimea) in Donbass (Donetsk and Luhansk region) which after gory conflict has resulted Donbass presently in the possession of Russian supported separatists.
HENCE IT IS EVIDENT, POLITICAL LEADERSHIP OF UKRAINE HAS SOLD UKRAINE DUE TO NON CITIZEN LIKE BEHAVIOR OF UKRAINIANS.
Earlier there was hope that Ukraine will pressurize West to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine as explained at http://baltic-review.com/opinion-analysis/lithuania-should-understand-it-is-west-and-not-russia-which-is-aggressor-in-ukraine/ . But now when Ukraine is prepared to wait up-to 2018 to restore its territorial integrity (not by military action but by defense and by absurd civilian measures of boycott, sanctions etc, which will have no impact, worth the name, on Russia), any such hope is misplaced and meaningless.
Such unpatriotic and cowardly attitude of Ukrainians and their President Poroshenko is mainly due to ‘UN’s Vulnerable Members Policy’ as explained at http://www.pakistanchristianpost.com/viewarticles.php?editorialid=2268 which has disturbed the peace and political stability of entire Europe (with adverse implication for rest of the World) due to Ukraine crises. Therefore Ukraine should be divided between NATO & Russia where Novorossiya (geographically contiguous region from Crimea to Luhansk / Kharkiv) should be given to Russia and remaining Ukraine should be given to NATO (with suitable political arrangement, devised and enforced by World community).
In the interest of global peace the World community should start the process of winding up ‘UN’s Vulnerable Members Policy’ by obliterating the existence of unpatriotic and cowardly (hence politically undesirable and nonviable) Ukraine from the map of the World.
