Sub:- GenDSS should have emphasized on priorities of peacekeeping at UN Chiefs of Defence Conference
India’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag (GenDSS), Defense Ministry, External Affairs Ministry and Government of India (GOI) may be patting on their back that they have done an excellent job on Friday at UN Chiefs of Defence Conference (UNCDC) where GenDSS reiterated India’s concerns over the inadequacy of consultations with countries deploying their forces in UN operations. But this entire drama at UNDCC is nothing short of farce where defence chiefs from 108 countries participated in the conference, the largest gathering of the world's top military leaders.
It is baffling that GenDSS could not understand the irrelevance of Armies of these 108 countries in the service of global peace given the fact that in the present immense human catastrophe in North Africa and Middle East (NAME) region - [Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Libya, Tunisia etc latest being Yemen, where hundreds of thousands have been killed and millions have been displaced with worst human rights violations of the people of NAME region, including of women, children and old people] - there is no boots on ground from UN Peace Keeping Force (UNPKF) and merely air strikes by USA and its Allies against ISIS in Syria for many months without any worthwhile results and in Yemen by Saudi Arabia & Allies against Houthi rebels is going on. In a nutshell UNPKF is not where it is needed the most.
Will GenDSS and defence chiefs of these 108 countries enlighten the people of the World (especially of NAME region) that when UNPKF is not involved in any way in such a human catastrophe which has left hundreds of millions of people in NAME bleeding & weeping profusely and which has disturbed the peace and political stability of entire world then what were they doing at UNCDC.
This farce at UNCDC is another evidence of the fact that the martial element of present world is not only martial for name sake but also considers rest of the World such damn fool that it will not understand this tragic drama at UNCDC by defence chiefs from 108 countries who participated in it.
In addition to UNPKF unless the mechanism of ‘International Political Parties’ and ‘Global Participatory Philanthropy NGOs’ (both registered at UN) is introduced, global peace can not be achieved by UN and such ironic drama will continue to happen in future too at UNCDC.
