The murder of Nazir Masih, an alleged blasphemy accused, and the demands for justice. By Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghouri

On whose hands should I look for my blood? The whole city is wearing gloves: I don't know when, why, where, and in what context this poem was written by a poet, but it seems to me that the spirit of Nazir Masih, who lost his life at the hands of religious fanatics in Sargodha, is crying out at the door of DPO and Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Muhammad Abbas, demanding justice. and  is saying that if the religious terrorists whose bails have been granted due to the poor investigation of the police and the fear and mental pressure within the judge are not my murderers, then was there a celestial being who completed his mission and returned, who was not caught on any mobile phone camera or CCTV camera?

Today, the spirit of Nazir Masih is shaking the chains of the court of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab, whether a non-Muslim will get justice today, whether the government will uphold equal rights or whether the government will remain hostage to religious terrorists Remember, if you don't see my blood on someone's hands today, tomorrow those same gloved hands will be stained with someone else's blood. This cycle of killing and destruction will not stop. Tomorrow, after me, it will be someone else's turn.  We are weak, we are a minority, we cannot fight them, but we can certainly request you. The scales of justice are in your hands. Tomorrow you will have to answer for this before God.

According to my information, 47 suspects have been granted bail due to poor investigation. Instead of calling it poor investigation, I would call it police facilitation for the suspects. Because in the videos shared on social media from across the country, the faces of those who are committing arson and murder can be clearly seen.  The whole world has seen these faces, except for the investigating officer and the relevant agencies. It has become clear that no one, be it the police or the judge, has a soft spot for minorities. I have no problem writing that the police's feelings were no different from those of the arsonists. They were only restrained by the official uniforms that adorned their bodies, and by the salary that kept their home They could not burn the house, but by giving relief to the accused, they have satisfied their faith.

Our MNA Dr. Nelson Azeem demanded that the DPO and CPO Sargodha be immediately suspended for negligence in the performance of their duties, but so far the Speaker of the National Assembly has not issued orders to form any committee in this regard, while in the meantime the accused have been released on bail.  And this is not the first time that the police have shown laxity in protecting Christian property. In the Jaranwala tragedy, churches were burned in different areas from 8 am to late at night, but the police could not take any action to stop the mob. This incident was the worst chapter in the history of Pakistan in which 27 churches were burned in one day, but despite this, not even a single constable, let alone a DPO, could be suspended. It has been observed in experience that when such tragedies occur, hundreds of suspects are immediately arrested to appease the international community, only to be released after a few weeks under pressure from religious extremist groups.  The tragedy with us is that we are oppressed and forced not to raise our voices. If we announce a protest demonstration in a city, the local police and agencies harass us and prevent us from holding a protest demonstration.  On the other hand, despite the imposition of Section 144 in Sargodha, people of a certain religious group hold protest meetings in which they intimidate and threaten Christians, even saying that there is no resurrection after the death of a scoundrel in Sargodha. Today, the release of the accused on bail has proven their point that the death of Nazir Masih is of no importance to the police and the courts.

If the administration put as much effort into stopping our protests as it does into protecting us, such tragedies would not have happened. At the same time, it is also important that the government does not give us verbal assurances of safety after every tragedy, but rather takes practical steps to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future. Recently, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told our spiritual leader, the Pope, that the protection of minorities in Pakistan is our top priority. The minorities living in Pakistan have equal rights. May God make this possible in practice.
