Islamabad: July 1, 2018. (PCP) Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, in order to get rid of heavy foreign debts, has proposed to adopt a transparent mechanism for open auction of all property under the Evacuee Trust Property Board. Dr Ramesh Vankwani, in an open letter to honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, said that since independence all Pakistani governments are failed to appoint Hindu Pakistani citizen to manage the ETPB in an efficient and effective manner. However, in India, there is always a Muslim Indian citizen responsible for look after evacuee property. "This was also mutually agreed between leadership of both countries on the occasion of Liaquat–Nehru Pact," he further stated, adding that the orders of Supreme Court in this regard are yet to be implemented. Dr Ramesh Vankwani also made appeal to the Chief Justice for asking the ETPB to publicize list of all evacuee property on its official website and media. He said that due to lack of transparency, a large number of worthy property is being granted to blue-eyed on very cheap rates. Dr Ramesh requested Chief Justice for canceling all current leases and introducing open bidding system. "The first priority could be given to the one who is already utilizing the property with the condition to provide money equivalent to market rate," he stated in his letter. Dr Ramesh Vankwani regretted that past governments have enough funds for the purpose of self-publicity but no solid plan for ending foreign debts. On behalf of Hindu community, he suggested to utilize 50% of income generated through open auction of evacuee property to get rid of foreign debts. "Remaining amount must be ensured to be spend for the welfare of minorities in the presence of Hindu chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board," Dr Ramesh further said, while hoping that Pakistan will be able to return all kinds of heavy debt within a short period of three to twelve months.
