VPJ organised Sifi conference at Baba Reshi Gulmarg

Baramulla: In a bid to revive the Sufism in Kashmir, the Voice for Peace and Justice organized one day conference on Sufism at Baba-Reshi Tangmarg. The aim of the conference was to make people aware of the Sufism, the backbone of Islam which teaches people to spread peace and love. During the conference, a number of Sufiyana music segments were performed by the Kashmiri singers of the valley which attracted a good audience including writers, poets, authors and other intellectuals.

The conference was attended by the centuries of people who came all along the way from whole Kashmir valley to take part in the conference.

Sheikh Minhaj, General Secretary of Voice for Peace and Justice, in his address welcomed the participants and said Sufism is an only way forward for peace in Kashmir. The Sufi Saints travelled miles to promote peace and brotherhood in Kashmir, while as some elements are leaving no stone unturned to spread extremism over the Sufism. He emphasized the role of Sufis in Kashmir and said people should follow Sufism so that ever lasting peace can be imposed in Kashmir.

While as Farooq Ganderbali, a renowned social activist and president of Voice for Peace and Justice, in his speech said, “Radical forces tried hard to suppress the voice of majority of the people of Kashmir, targeted shrines and literature to ruin the fabrics of Sufism in Kashmir, but in the present scenario the Sufism is an only option to live peacefully and in eco friendly atmosphere with the people irrespective of religion, creed and caste.

Dr Sajid Hussain, while comparing the current situation said the Sufism paves strength to the communal harmony in Kashmir and in current scenario the Sufism can be an only option to eradicate the sense of radicalization in the valley. He further praised the Sufi Saints for their sacrifices and efforts for the promotion of peace, brotherhood and love in the valley. He added

Imam Jamia of Baba Payamudin (RA) in his speech said the Sufism in Kashmir is just limited to the literature; we must work to implement the teachings of saints on ground, and involve our younger generations for the revival of Sufism in Kashmir. He praised the efforts the Voice for Peace and Justice for organizing such conferences.   

The Editor in chief of daily Asian Express daily English newspaper, Ajaz Kawoosi also spoke on the occasion requested people to take part actively in the Sufi conferences and reap the reward.

Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Lone, Maulvi Mehraj Ud Din, Sufi poet, Haji Mohammad Maqbool, Abdul Salaam Sheikh, Imaam e Jamia Baba Reshi, Chairman civil society Kashmir Mohammad Altaf, President Ziyarat Sharif Baba Reshi were the other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion.

Mementos, certificates, shawls and certificates were awarded among the guests and speakers on the occasion.
