Democrats secure 18th consecutive victory in Karachi Press Club elections for 2026

Karachi: (PPF) The Democrats panel has secured another comprehensive victory in the annual elections of the Karachi Press Club, winning all major posts for the year 2026 and achieving its 18th consecutive clean sweep in a keenly contested poll held on December 27.

Polling took place from 9am to 5:30pm without interruption, with strong participation from members. Out of 1,369 registered voters, 1,011 cast their votes. The results were announced at the Karachi Press Club by election committee chairman Dr Tausif Ahmed Khan.

According to the official results, Fazil Jamili was elected president with 536 votes, while Aslam Khan won the post of secretary with 493 votes. Irshad Khokhar was elected vice-president after securing 480 votes. Imran Ayub was elected treasurer with 622 votes, and Farooq Sami secured the position of joint secretary with 556 votes.

For the seven governing body seats, Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar Hussain Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Syed Farid Alam, and Javed Mehr were declared successful. Their vote tallies ranged from 426 to 629.

The elections were contested by the Democrats panel, Democrat panel, Green Panel, and independent candidates. A large number of members participated in the electoral process, reflecting active engagement in the club’s annual democratic exercise.
