Sindh: (PPF) In a significant move, the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) issued a stern warning to all police personnel, enforcing a total ban on promoting official duties through personal social media accounts. This decision follows repeated violations of existing social media guidelines by officers and staff within the department. 

The directive explicitly prohibits sharing any content related to official activities, including images or videos of police offices, vehicles, uniforms, or any other government resources on personal social media platforms. This measure aims to curtail the growing trend of police employees, including female constables, who have been increasingly active on social media during official duties. 

According to sources, there has been a persistent disregard for previous guidelines concerning the use of social media by police personnel. The new orders reinforce that promoting official duties through personal accounts is now a direct violation of rules and regulations. Personnel have been instructed to immediately remove any previously uploaded content depicting their professional engagements. 

The latest orders were disseminated through a formal letter issued to all senior police officials, including Additional Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, Senior Superintendents of Police, and Superintendents of Police. These senior officers must ensure the new instructions are communicated promptly to their subordinate officers and personnel across the province. 

The Sindh IGP underscored the necessity of strict compliance with these directives from the provincial government. The orders also include a warning that any violation of this social media policy will trigger severe departmental and legal actions, with responsible officers facing consequences under service rules. 

On September 21, the Karachi police introduced a new social media policy requiring all officers and personnel to remove inappropriate content from their social media accounts within seven days.
