Shots fired at house of Christian lawyer

LAHORE: February 26, 2016. (PCP) On 25 February, 2016 at about 2:30 midnight shooting at home of LEAD's lawyer Mr.Aric John, by unknown persons. Mr. John is rendering his services to LEAD's cases including blasphemy victim's since 2009. This is the second incident of intimidation within this year towards Mr. John ,first was happened on 21.01.2016 at about 04:30 PM ,he was stopped by unknown persons and was threatened with dire consequences if he put his appearance in the blasphemy cases, regarding this incident the complaint application has been submitted in Police Station Factory Area, Lahore and after that a petition for registration of FIR has been filled in the Court of Additional and Session Judge, Lahore and which was accepted on dated 04 February,2016. On 11 February, 2016, Sardar Mushtaq Gill's home was looted by unknown persons while The incident happened when Gill’s wife was admitted in Zandagi Maternity Home and Family Clinic Township, Lahore and none of the family members were present at home. In spite of such threats and intimidation Mr. John promised to work with LEAD and has not stopped his services for victims of human rights violations. Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender who heads LEAD, will not stop to voice on behalf of persecuted and against the violations of Human Rights in Pakistan particularly for victims of blasphemy law.
