Government Officials Raid Home of Televangelist Benny Hinn

Texas: April 28, 2017. IRS and Postal Service agents were seen raiding the Grapevine, Texas home of televangelist Benny Hinn on Wednesday. The prominent televangelist is being investigated for tax evasion and fraud. His whereabouts during the raid were initially unknown, but Christian News now reports that Hinn is currently in France. “Today, we are here on official business, we are conducting a search warrant on the premises, basically that’s all I can tell you today,” said Special Agent Michael Moseley who is part of the IRS Criminal Investigations department. “We are primarily investigating Title 26, which is tax evasion and general fraud against the government.” This is not the first time Hinn has been investigated by the government. His finances were under scrutiny in 2007 and in 2005. Hinn hosts the “This is Your Day” broadcast on Trinity Broadcasting Network and leads healing crusades around the world. ABC network WFAA reported that Ole Anthony has been tracking Hinn and his finances for over two decades. “There is more fraud in the name of God, not just in America, but in the world, than any other kind of fraud,” lamented Anthony. Blogger Warren Throckmorton also reported on the raid and stated that he hopes it will lead to policy changes for Christian ministries that take in over one million dollars.
