Tando Muhammad Khan: June 21, 2017. (PCP) Sindhi Sangat Sindh and Sindhi Nari Sangat Sindh have distributed Eid gifts among poor and needy families in different towns and villages of Sindh, Pakistan. Sindh is the largest gas producing province of Pakistan, which contributes more than 70 percent gas of total production in the country but unfortunately more than 75 percent population of Sindh compelled to live under the line of poverty. Leaders of Sindhi Sangat Sindh and Sindhi Nari Sangat Sindh Farwa Sindhi, Farzana Shah, Hina Sindhi, Ahmed Baloch, Shehmer Qambrani and others have said Sindhi Sangat Sindh believe that we should help poor and needy people around us as this is our national and social responsibility. They expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held by Sindhi Sangat Sindh district Tando Muhammad Khan in collaboration with Sindhi Nari Sangat Sindh to distribute Eid clothes among poor and needy families. Speaking on the occasion, the Sindhi Sangat Sindh and Sindhi Nari Sangat Sindh leaders said that Sindh is the largest gas producing province of Pakistan, which contributes more than 70 percent gas of total production in the country but unfortunately more than 75 percent population of Sindh compelled to live under the line of poverty. Sindh being the richest province in terms of natural resources is in contradiction with the poverty, unemployment, shortage of CNG, load shedding of gas, and dearth of petroleum that it faces. Leaders of Sangat further said that international organizations should pay more attention to rural Sindh because more than 75% of the population in rural areas of Sindh is now living in abject poverty. The UN previous report for 2014-15 titled “Multidimensional Poverty in Pakistan” shows poverty in urban areas of Sindh at 10.6% but an alarming 75.5% in rural areas, which constitute a major chunk of the province, while during recent couple of years poverty in Sindh has increased.
