Chandigarh: September 27, 2017. (PCP) On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl (October 11), the Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh, Mr. Christopher Gibbins was invited by the Student's Welfare Committee of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh on September 26, 2017, to deliver a talk on vital social issues.
The Consulate General addressed the girls on growing rate of violence, poverty and discrimination. Focusing on the women, he mentioned gender inequality being prevalent even in developed countries like Canada. He mentioned that Canada's Prime Minister Mr. Justin Trudeau desires his country to progress as a feminist country with equal representation of men and women in the Government.
While conclude the talk, he expressed that empowering women will benefit not only the world economy but also free both genders from the shackles of fixed roles to create tangible holistic development of society.
