National Science Day celebrated at GGCSW 26

Chandigarh: February 23, 2018. (PCP) On 23th February,2018, Department of Sciences, GGSCW Sector-26, Chandigarh has celebrated National Science Day.The aim of the event was to encourage scientific temperament among young students and create curiosity regarding new ideas and explore latest trends in Science and Technology. It started with a welcome introductory address by Principal. She encouraged the students to achieve new heights in the field of Science and Technology. Dean Sciences, Prof S. S. Dhillon gave a floral welcome to the Speaker, Prof. Jasjeet SinghBagla, Professor, IISER, Mohali. He deliberated on the topic of “Nobel Prize in Physics 2017”. He highlighted concept behind the experiment and explained the difficulties faced by the researchers in conducting the experiment. The seminar was attended by Faculty members and students of the college. After the lecture, the Seminar was followed by interactive session in which several questions were asked by the students. An Intra College Poster Presentation Competition was also held on the topic –Science in Daily life: Facts and Fiction. The students from various departments such as Commerce, Arts and Sciences participated with full interest and won a lot of prizes. In the end, a fun game ‘CHEMICAL TAMBOLA’ was also organized `in which students participated whole heartedly. The winner of the game was given the title ‘Chemical Queen’. The students enjoyed and participated enthusiastically in the entire event. The Science Day celebrations were a grand success.
